VINTAGE TURKISH POSTAGE STAMPS PRINTED IN HONOR OF 10th ANNIVERSARY OF HYDROELECTRIC DEVELOPMENT IN TURKEY
All out of circulation. Set of three stamps
130 kurus stamp (lilac and white) printed in 1974. Depicting an image of symbolization of hyroelectric power (water waves and a bright spot symbolizing energy). DHI is the probably the government branch of Devlet Hiroelektrik Isleri. Probably part of what is currently known as the Devlet Su Isleti (State Hydraulic Works).
UNESCO is mentioned in the stamp. Not sure what the UNESCO connection is. it might be a UNESCO project. Or it might be the stamps are published by UNESCO. Or part of the proceeds may have been donated to UNESCO.
Kurus was worth 100th of a Turkish Lira (TL) before the removal of the 6 zeros from the end to start the new lira. It has been long out of circulation.
